A little about me

In 2018, I traveled to Costa Rica with my mom for a yoga teacher training. I was young, and looking back, I can see that I was standing at the edge of a chapter I hadn't yet realized was coming to an end. I remember dancing in the rain, swimming in the ocean, and sharing stories with people who had been strangers only days before. There was a richness in those days that had nothing to do with what I owned or accomplished. I felt connected to myself, to the people around me, and to the world in a way that was difficult to articulate but impossible to forget.

The Gift Of Intention

That experience left an imprint on my heart, becoming a kind of north star for me even when my life seemed to take me in completely different directions. I went on to leave my corporate job, become a Pilates instructor, and discover that the very thing I thought would allow me to express myself more freely would also ask me to confront so many of the ways I had learned to hold myself back. Movement became a mirror for my perfectionism, my relationship with achievement, and the pressure I placed on myself to be good at something before I had really given myself permission to be a beginner.

Finding True Balance

I could recognize the importance of patience, presence, and self-compassion in the people I was teaching, while still learning how to offer those same things to myself. The more I explored my relationship with my body, the more curious I became about the relationship between our physical patterns and the ways we think, feel, respond, and move through the world. Somewhere in that exploration, my work began to take shape within the realization that we can understand ourselves intellectually and still find ourselves repeating the same patterns or fears.

Deepening Connection

There is so much of our experience that exists beyond what we can explain with words alone. Through movement, somatic awareness, and reflection, I've come to appreciate the many ways we can enter into conversation with ourselves. When I began hosting retreats, I recognized something familiar: the sense of connection that develops when people allow themselves to be fully present. More Than Movement has grown alongside me, an expression of curiosity about feeling connected while remaining open to everything life has yet to offer.
